What are the current income limits for Public Housing?

How does the Section 8 Program differ from the Public Housing Program?

The Section 8 Program allows you to rent any apartment or house within city limits after it passes our inspection.  Participants in the Public Housing Program live in one of the apartment complexes owned by the Quincy Housing Authority.

The Section 8 waiting list is currently closed.

What documents do I need to apply for Public Housing?

To apply, an applicant must have the following items:

  1. Birth Certificate for ALL members of the household
  2. Social Security Card for ALL members of the household
  3. Photo I.D. for ALL household members over 18

What will disqualify me from entering Public Housing?

Any of the following may keep you from being accepted into the Public Housing Program:

  1. Certain criminal background history
  2. Falsifying your application
  3. Owing a balance to any Public Housing Authority
  4. Having been arrested for the manufacture of methamphetamine on Public Housing property
  5. Being a registered sex offender

What is the required deposit for a Public Housing unit?

Efficiency = $120
1 Bedroom = $1253 Bedroom = $155
2 Bedroom = $1404 Bedroom = $170

Section 8 deposits are set by each landlord.

What Are My Responsibilities As A Resident?

  1. Pay your rent on time. It is due on the first of every month.
  2. Report any maintenance problems immediately. If a problem occurs during regular business hours call (217) 222-0720 ext. 406. If the problem occurs after hours and is an emergency, call (217) 222-0720 and a QHA on-call maintenance person may be dispatched out. 
  3. Do not disturb your neighbors.
  4. Do not participate in illegal activities.
  5. Keep your home and outside area decent, safe, clean, and sanitary.
  6. No pets allowed unless a pet deposit is made and paperwork filed with management.
  7. No unauthorized live-ins.
  8. Report in writing any changes to family composition and income in a timely manner.
  9. Follow the terms of the visitor’s and parking policies. 
  10. No smoking in units. Smoking is only allowed in designated smoking areas.
